"I want to create a fusion of art and life, Asia and America, Duchampiana and Levi-Straussian savagism, cool form and hot video, dealing with all of those complex problems, spanning the tribal memory of the nomadic Asians who crossed over the Bering Strait over 10,000 years ago. Then, I came, flying in a Boeing 707, on July 4th in 1964, drawn to the glittering Pop Art world of New York."
i really like this woman and this quote makes me like her even more.
20 parts poemas de amor, 2 parts cotton sweaters from the gap. pour over tiny asian girl and shake.

non-objective art of the day
instructions: look at an area of reflected morning light in your room. appreciate it as you would appreciate a moving picture.
lately been struck most by vito acconci's following piece and tino sehgal's performances. harrell fletcher is always on my mind. people who tell supporters of objective art to ess-tee-eff-yew, as i have lately been too busy navigating traffic to consciously go to any art museum, and appreciate "art" as we know it. but afraid to relinquish the art object altogether, or to become one of "those bastards" who make purely self indulgent conceptual work. hmmmm? woke up this morning to the sound of airplanes nearby. thinks in warzones there are more bulletholes.

when in doubt
put on some eyemakeup, put on some mgmt, throw yourself a camerafone dance party.

i made a really good drawing last night (chillingly, sylvia-plath passive aggressive good) but i have not had access to a scanner to show it! ARRRRRRRRRGH, my sound of pirate discontent at the realization that nothing is free in the great state of california. that was my art for the night; now, flannery o'connor.
(don't worry, i'm still freaked the fuck out about my work situation. even though i, uh, have a work situation.)

think about it
does someone ever say 'i love you' the exact same way you mean it to them? the way you mean it to the universe? the way you mean it to a photograph of a casual but treasured acquaintance with whom you haven't spoken in a while, when a jolt of joy and sadness runs through the surface of your skin all at the same time?
