i have seen paradise

paradise feeds you free breakfast and lunch, invites you to take table tennis breaks next to a khoi pond at your leisure, and entices your vision with framed paintings from shrek, kung fu panda and other animated productions in progress. i get to try paradise out for two months before having to wistfully say goodbye because paradise, not immune to the effects of the nosediving californian economy, has so emphatically stated that there will be no p.a. openings. but paradise for two months is still paradise with a lot of free perks on the side. i am overwhelmingly happy.

on other news, i am upset at myself for not having drawn anything major since i laid down my charcoal pencil for my last animation still on april 23. life has been moving very quickly, very quickly, very quickly. i still need to register my car and figure out if i can take the bus down to the public library. one day at a time. the form of our poetries keep on shifting depending on the state of our present lives, but i don't think they ever just go away.

d.f. in a nutshell

Photobucket

took this with my holga at the the insurgentes bus stop in d.f., whose recessed concrete plaza doubles as a skate park and marketplace. it contains a few of my favorite things: couples, blue skies, and the color orange

these are some crayon colors on which i look back fondly, their names doubling as visual memories of a childhood spent wandering in the rocky mountains.

d.f., black and white

Photobucket

this photograph sums up the character of mexico city perfectly for me. it did indeed involve tatuajes (tattoos), pestanyas (eyelashes), casual storefronts and dappled sunlight streaming through the trees.
