bread

i am taking the night off to myself. for the first time in a while, actually. possible courses of action involve: cleaning my room, watching art 21, watching andrei tarkovsky, reading dickens, reading camus, graphiting, painting, doing my dishes, and/or lying around senseless listening to my bloody valentine and pretending i am a thousands-year-old mummy plotting the moment in which i throw off my embalming linens and make a triumphant return to the stage.

watch for a somewhat solidified life update after monday.

doubt

some days are more difficult than others. hormones? heartache? the oppressive lethargy of one's apartment on a 100 degree day? saving graces appear in the most miraculous of places, like when you look up to see your film thermometer, unaware of all the troubles that surround you, diligently recording the ambient temperature.

proposal

let's not talk about 'art'. let's talk about love letters, fantasy, bright lights, material richness and existential situations. let's talk about pathos.

sometimes i still get a pang of 'why didn't i [xyz socially approved action] with my life?'. but then i sort of remember that i'm currently immersed every day and second in some form of art, and i feel like i'm only starting to swim across a very big and unknowable sea, and while i'm busy doing that, i should probably want nothing more.
